बोझिल हैं बुद्धि ,

our brain is all dried up by arid learning,
and jealousy from our best friends we hide
our dearest hopes and even the noble burning
of passions which our sceptic minds deride.
our lips have scarcely touched the cup of pleasure
yet by this caution we've not saved our strength;
fearing excess,we have drawn off a measure,
from every joy-and left all flat at length.
कोरे सूखे  ज्ञान से बोझिल हैं बुद्धि ,
छिपाते हम सब ईर्ष्या दोस्तों तक से
अपनी ख़ास उम्मीदें और कामनाएं
जोश जो संशय भरे मन से उपजें .
होठो ने न जाना सच्चा रस कहाँ हैं
सतर्क इतने पर शक्ति बची न ;
डरें बेहद,बना  कर के मापदंड ,
सुखों के,छोड़ कर बाकी सभी कुछ..
